Io + Dryads

Io and the Dryads are Glasgow’s finest, scariest Glam band.

They have been burning the retinas and ears of Glasgow’s music scene for the last year and a half with their distinctive visual style and high-energy, debauched sax and guitar led shows.

The band are led by singer and guitarist Io Palej, who has accumulated over a million views on the Facebook platform Buskers of Glasgow. 

Io has just returned from a three month tour of Canada playing two hockey stadium shows a night as the ringmaster and principal musical performer of a rock and roll circus set to the band’s music.

Their music has drawn praise from Tom Robinson, Robin Scott (M), Jola (Drummer of Adam Ant’s band), James Hallawell (Waterboys) and Cass Browne (Gorillaz) amongst others.

Io and the Dryads’ first single VIPER, which was recorded in the depths of an underground nuclear bunker in Edinburgh, is a sax fuelled Glam punk reimagining of a twenties swing song about the joys of intoxication. It is accompanied by an old grey whistle test inspired live session shot in the same underground location.

The band’s next single Strange World, a snark dripping original set to an infectious beat which was largely recorded on tour in various hockey stadiums, will be released on 15th of September. This will be followed by Lying Awake in late October.

Io and the Dryads are hell bent upon sharing their unique, snarling sound with the world at large and injecting a bit of much needed heavy Glam decadence into the music scene. Take heed
